Superman, of course, DC’s greatest super-hero, and one of the world’s best-known characters. With his super-strength, ability to fly, invulnerability, and X-Ray vision and other super-powers, he’s easily one of the mightiest characters ever created. The challenge is to make such a legendary character come across as fresh and believable to what is now its third or fourth generation of readers. As this title shows, DC is more than up to the job.

In 1987, Superman’s character was modified, altering his origin and powers, as well as the backgrounds of his supporting cast. As part of that Superman rebirth, DC switched around their various Superman titles, renaming their old Superman series “The Adventures of Superman,” and creating a new, second series of Superman.
