This anthology book showcased two of Batman’s partners, Batgirl and Robin, dubbing them the Dynamite Duo in team-up stories. In addition, each issue reprinted several stories involving other characters in the Family. These ranged from copycat versions of the Caped Crusader, such as Batwoman, to major characters that got their start in the Batman titles, such as Elongated Man and Hawkman. Later issues featured solo stories of the Huntress.

In their team-ups, the “Boy Wonder” and the “Dominoed Daredoll” were portrayed as adult heroes, not young sidekicks. Barbara Gordon was a Congresswoman, while Dick Grayson pursued his college education. These stories take place before his adventures in the New Titans and as Nightwing.

Although the series only lasted for twenty issues, the digest concept was continued for a while in Detective Comics beginning with #481. DC put out several other similar titles during the late 70s, including Superman Family, and Super-Team Family.
